Do you feel hopelessly single?

Until very recently, I wondered whether I would be alone forever. I knew deep down that that probably wouldn't be the case, but I really was getting to a point in my life when I truly began to question it.

I had been single for 2.5 years until this past October. I felt like everyone around me was coupling up, finding their people, and for one reason or another, I was getting left behind. Sound familiar?

Fast forward to today, I live with fiance and we are planning a wedding for next April! If the past year has taught me anything, it's to believe in miracles. After having been single for 2.5 years, to meet someone in October, move in together in January, get engaged in March, and to be planning a wedding for April 2013, is nothing short of just that - a miracle.

And here's the thing: nothing makes me any different than you. Things can happen FAST. I never would have thought that I would have gotten engaged this quickly, that my dreams could manifest at lightning speed.

But here's the thing. It wasn't really at lightning speed at all. My business coach recently said how people who appear to be overnight successes have really spent years trying and failing and picking themselves back up and it just SEEMS like they made it overnight. The same goes for finding your life partner. Sure, things might happen really quickly, but that doesn't mean that a lot of sweat and tears aren't involved along the way.

So I'm going to share with you a few lessons I learned along the way, and some suggestions I have if you're ready to settle down and attract your person into your life.

1. Get really clear on the kind of person you're looking to attract. Grab a piece of paper, and on the top of it, write "My Ideal Partner" - and then just write anything that comes to mind. No need to make it fancy, just write down any adjectives that you want your person to embody. You don't need to share this list with anyone. It's purely for you and an exercise to help you get clearer about who you want to attract into your life.

2. Live as if. This is a KEY aspect to attracting anything into your life. I call this the "behind the door" exercise. If your ideal person was behind your front door, about to knock on it and ask to come in, are you ready for him or her? If not, what must you do to feel more prepared?

3. Read THIS book. If there is ONE book I would recommend for those who feel hopelessly single, it's Calling in the One by Katherine Woodward Thomas. This woman is brilliant! I read the book in July, and then reread it in August (and did all of the exercises this time) and by the end of September my present day fiance entered my life. This book is no joke friends! It's super intense, but if you're serious about making a change in your life, get it pronto.
